The most important rule: allow a buffer
Injectable treatments leave short-term traces – swelling, redness, occasionally bruises. This is normal and temporary, but it takes time. As a rule of thumb: allow three to four weeks before important occasions such as a wedding, a photo shoot, a holiday or a public appearance.
The first 24 to 48 hours – general rules
- No intensive exercise (raised blood pressure increases swelling and bruising)
- No sauna, no steam bath, no sunbed
- No alcohol
- Do not massage or press on the treated areas
- Make-up: depending on the treatment, at the earliest after 12 to 24 hours
Preventing and treating bruises
Beforehand, for a few days: avoid alcohol and blood-thinning painkillers such as aspirin or ibuprofen. Never stop prescribed medication on your own – speak to me first. Also avoid high-dose omega-3 or vitamin E supplements.
Afterwards: cool the area (not directly on the skin); arnica gel can help. A bruise usually resolves within five to ten days and can be covered with make-up.
