Both treatments involve the lips, but they lead to very different results – and cost different amounts.
What happens in each case
With a lip filler, hyaluronic acid is placed into the lip. Volume genuinely increases, the contour can be defined and asymmetries can be evened out.
With a lip flip, a very small amount of botulinum toxin is placed above the upper lip. The muscle relaxes, the upper lip rolls slightly outwards and therefore appears more visible. No volume is added – the lip does not become larger, it simply shows more of itself.
When each makes sense
A lip flip is a good choice if your upper lip almost disappears when you smile, if you want a very subtle result, or if this is your first time and you would like to start cautiously.
A filler is the right choice if volume is genuinely missing, if the contour has become blurred, or if an asymmetry needs to be corrected.
Compared
| Lip filler | Lip flip | |
|---|---|---|
| Substance | hyaluronic acid | botulinum toxin |
| Adds volume | yes | no |
| Result visible | immediately | after 3–5 days |
| Longevity | 6–12 months | 2–3 months |
| Price | from € 350 | € 120 |
| Reversible | yes | wears off on its own |
My advice for getting started
If you are unsure, the lip flip is the gentler route: it costs less, the result is more subtle, and the effect wears off on its own after a few months. Anyone who wants more afterwards can continue with a filler at any time.
